Tracy and Marcus are NYC based friends. They have been busy starting up their freelance business and I have been swamped under all things QMUL. Tracy recently recovered from an illness. In celebration of her return to good health, we decided to pick a day and have a telematic Lupper.

Tracy is one of my favorite types of foodies. She is all about the high-end cuisine while still into the down and dirty grub. We both pick an ingredient we both had in our fridge and Tracy found a tasty meal we could make.

Recipe: Spanish Chicken with Chickpeas & Chorizo

We originally planned to dine at 7pm/2pm but didn’t get started cooking until a bit after our respective times.

It would have been nice to cook together over skype but the QMUL dorms don’t provide wireless. ;(

Tracy finished first because my dorm kitchen appliances are less than desirable. It was a fun to hang out online and chat. We did find that sitting further way from the laptops was preferable because the fact that we weren’t really “looking” at each other was less obvious. Also, made it feel like we were sitting across from each other.

We ended up conversing for about 2 1/2 hours catching up on family, friends, projects, etc… while Marcus took care of walking the dog and doing out to buy D&D paraphernalia for an upcoming session.

I feel like I SHOULD WRITE YOU IN ALL CAPS TO EXPRESS MY JOY IN (KIND OF, SORT OF) FINALLLY CHATTING WITH YOU. I’ve been out of touch for the past couple of weeks due to an immense allergic reaction to–of all things–allergy medication.

After being bed-ridden with a continuous fever for more days than I care to count, I am happy to say I can stand up without passing out and look at a computer screen without vomiting. Therefore, I am requesting a catch up with each other coffee and doughnut or lunch/dinner get together with my overseas friend whenever you have a chance.

Let me know which day and time work best for you and I will cook up something tasty and shove part of it in my DVD reader in the hopes that it somehow magically transports itself to your computer through “the net.”

I miss you and our plans to free the world of violence through diabetes.

I am so sorry to hear about your illness. I am glad you are doing better. I would totally love to catch up and do a skype dinner.

YEAH!!!!!!!! Saturday, April 2nd it is. :0) I will find a recipe that will be tasty. Any particular type of food you are interested in? Something quick to make? Meat, no meat? Cheap? Expensive? What time do you usually eat dinner?

I have boneless chix in the freezer. So up for chix. something fairly easy. And cheap for US because it will be more expensive here.

Hey chica,

Since you have chicken in your fridge and I have chorizo, I was thinking we could makeSpanish Chicken with Chickpeas & Chorizo. I made it last week and it was super tasty. You can sub the chorizo for a different type of sausage–the same goes for the beans–if you can’t easily find them.

What time (NY & London) were we thinking of meeting?

Are we still on for today? I just got back with all my ingredients and heading to the kitchen to prepare. I don’t have internet in the kitchen. I also have to prepare pimento cheese so I will do that first and then start on suppa. So I will check back in at 1:30pm your time. 6:30pm mine.
